NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENTThe Natural Resource Management department includes a variety of services usually
referred to as multi-phase and single-phase projects; both consisting of the
development of cutting permits in the private and the public sectors. On average, Pro-Tech
Forest Resources holds development contracts of greater than nine hundred thousand cubic
meters per year. The company has developed a reputation for being on the leading edge of

SUMMARY OF KEY NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PROJECTSThe following are selected samples highlighting some of the more recent project
conducted by Pro-Tech Forest Resources. Our project base is quite varied and we are always
willing to extend our services into exploring new opportunities and technology. Ø Since 1989, over 400 000m3 of cutting permits for Canfor-Houston Division are developed annually. Ø A 700 ha cutting permit for HFP-Houston was designed and implemented. Ø We have contributed to the development of many innovative harvest development strategies in regards to issues identified within regional Land Resource Management Plans and associated Landscape Unit Plans. Ø We have also contributed to the development of harvesting practices in established VQO areas. Ø We have developed and implemented cutting permits in highly sensitive areas. Ø We have developed complex cutting permits requiring intensive planning to meet VQO’s, Wildlife, Fisheries, and IRM objectives in the Parrot Lakes area. |

SUMMARY OF KEY SILVICULTURE PROJECTSØ Over 14 000 hectare of various silviculture surveys was completed during the year 2001 Ø Paul Fire Silviculture Management Plan has been successfully developed using both silviculture and GIS department skills Ø Qualitative research trials measuring pre- and post-treatment growth increment were conducted in the Fulton Lake area Ø Quality control audits of local forestry consultant on behalf of Canfor were conducted Ø Watershed Restoration assessments including road deactivation field assessments and prescription have been conducted for Canfor and the Morice Forest District |
